Tyra Withers, originally from Youngstown, Ohio, is a licensed cosmetologist in California and a certified trichologist with a deep understanding of scalp and hair health. With a degree in Communications from The Ohio State University, Tyra has always been passionate about helping others care for their natural hair, and her journey has only expanded that mission.

Tyra began her creative career as the founder of Creative Captures LLC, a photography company, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams in acting and filmmaking. Along the way, she discovered a deep love for locs and natural hair care. What Tyra values most is the artistry in her work, the relationships she builds with clients, and helping people achieve healthy hair and scalp growth through her natural product line, YoungWood Hair & Body.

The name YoungWood reflects Tyra’s journey from Youngstown to Los Angeles, symbolizing growth, transformation, and chasing dreams. Her mission has expanded beyond hair care. Tyra is now dedicated to helping aspiring hairstylists and locticians make the most of their time and talents. She teaches them how to build thriving careers without being stuck behind the chair their entire lives, plan for financial stability, grow their business strategically, and prepare for retirement. Tyra empowers others to create sustainable, fulfilling careers that allow them to live life on their own terms while excelling in the beauty industry.

When she’s not caring for clients or developing products, Tyra enjoys traveling, exploring new creative outlets, and deepening her expertise in hair and scalp care. She lives by her faith, believing that God is everything and Jesus is above all, and she uses her platform to inspire others to pursue their dreams no matter the obstacles.
